NJ Department of Education Violence and Vandalism Report for 2009 - 2011

Trenton, NJ - The Department of Education today released the Violence
and Vandalism Report for the 2009-2011 school years. The report is
produced each year to transparently share self-reported incidents of
violence, vandalism, weapons, and substance use and possession from
districts. To support districts as they work to reduce incidents of
Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying, the department also provided
additional guidance to aid districts in implementing the new law,
P.L.2010, Chapter 122, known as the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act.

  1. The State seems to have taken a complete about face on this one. The Governor's Education Transformation Task Force Final report suggests that this reporting is no longer necessary. They recommend that the mandate to report these incidents to the state be eliminated. They feel that is quite acceptable for the Districts to post this report on their websites. What happened? Did the state decide that there was so much non-compliance and under reporting that it was not necessary? Now they have taken on the stance of the IMF or the CIA. In other words, they don't want to know about your petty problems people, so deal with it at home. Get it, got it, good.
